Activities

While implementing the skills that they have learned at Shodor, interns will work on important and essential projects; Mentors will provide guidance to the interns, helping them learn as they produce quality work. The projects below are some examples of the work that is created by Shodor interns.

The Computational Science Education Reference Desk (CSERD)
Shodor is one of the 11 institutions charged with providing the scientific content for the National Science Digital Library (NSDL). Shodor develops and maintains CSERD as a peer reviewed resource in computational science education. Resources span a variety of content areas, including chemistry, biology, mathematics, and modeling.

Interactivate
Interactivate is a popular set of interactive math and science education materials geared for grades 3 - 12. Resources, such as lesson plans, discussions, and activities are all aligned to national and state standards.

MASTER TOOLS
The MASTER Tools are a set of online software for mathematical and scientific modeling. These are designed to be interactive tools and simulation environments that enable and encourage exploration and discovery through observation, conjecture, and modeling activities.

Braille through Remote Learning (BRL)
This resource provides educators, parents, future and current braille transcribers, and other interested persons with the knowledge to create Grade 2 braille documents using one or several braille writing devices.

Succeed
This collection of activities and lesson plans are adapted from Shodor's own workshops and incorporate computational elements into math and science explorations.

High Performance Computing University (HPCU)
Shodor, along with institutions around the nation, are collaboratively providing an online environment for sharing educational training materials on high performance computing.

Shodor Tutorials
Shodor Tutorials contains free tutorials that are used in workshops and in the apprenticeship program. Students and faculty alike can use these tutorials to learn web design, modeling, and much more.

Computational Chemistry
North Carolina's high school chemistry students and teachers have free access to a dedicated research-level computer that supports advanced computing in chemistry.

DEAF STEM
Deaf STEM is a collection of online lessons and activities with corresponding sign language videos for hearing-impaired students and their instructors.
